This inspiring story was recently published in The Voice, a publication out of New Baltimore, Michigan.
“Port Huron Hospital Foundation’s annual Adopt-a-Penguin program is a philanthropic effort that inspires youngsters to support other youngsters being cared for at the hospital.” …
… “The children had custody of their penguins for 30 days. During that time, they were encouraged to give them names and clothe them in creative attire. At month’s end, the penguins were gathered – each one bearing the name of its sponsor – and were collectively displayed at last weekend’s Festival of Trees celebration in Port Huron.

The proceeds, raised through a variety of methods, will benefit children’s services at Port Huron Hospital through purchases of modern medical equipment and stuffed toy penguins to cheer-up youngsters treated at the hospital during the holidays.
‘The kids did raffles; they collected cans…they brought the money in. There is no corporate sponsorship involved. It is kids doing it for kids,’ Gephart said.”
My thought, if more adults helped kids with opportunities like this, more kids would be jumping in to help however they can. True penguin spirit I say… I Love it!
